Why are mega ships becoming ever more popular?
Global demand for cruises has been rising constantly during the last decades and so has the average size of cruise ships operating in the contemporary segment (Peisley, 2006). Meanwhile referred to as 'cities at sea' (Dowling, 2006: 414), cruise ships have become destinations themselves, thus appealing to a much larger target group (Coles and Hall, 2008). Cruise Management
The objective of this essay is to analyse the human resource policies of the cruise industry, linking them with passenger and employee satisfaction. First, a brief overview of the cruise industry will be given. Subsequently, major issues concerning cruise industry's human resource policies will be debated whereas special emphasis will be placed on emotional labour.
